Original Dilavar head studs for Porsche 911, from '65 to '98 for only € 29, - incl. VAT.
Due to the constantly increased displacement and performance of the 911 engine and the resulting higher thermal load, only aluminum cylinders were used by Porsche from 1974 on. But the thermal expansion coefficient of aluminum compared to steel, is almost twice as high, what lead to tensile stress on the steel head studs and engine case, resulting in torn out threads, fractures of the studs or, in the best case, only to loosening and leakage.
These problems have been solved starting with the late 3.2 Carrera models which was equipped with the new bolts at first, initially used on the lower side only, combined with the outdated steel studs yet mounted above.
From the 964, Porsche relied completely on the Dilavar studs, which provided a thermal expansion coefficient close to aluminum, eliminating almost every additional stress caused by thermal expansion. Basically, it is recommended that every 911, which is equipped with aluminum cylinders should be retrofitted to original Dilavar cylinder head bolts.
Instead of € 45,- now for limited period of time for € 29,-/ each (€ 24,37 plus V.A.T:)!
