Today we present our crankshaft for the Porsche 924, including Turbo, GT, and GTS models.
This crankshaft is specially designed for use with lighter racing connecting rods. Precise calculations using finite element method (FEM) have been used to precisely match the masses of the counterweights to the lower rotating masses of the lighter connecting rods, minimizing friction and preventing crankshaft distortion at high engine speeds.
The advantages include not only increased power output through reduced friction, but also improved durability, reduced wear, and smoother running.
In the 4-cylinder inline engine, where, unlike in a boxer engine, all second-order inertial forces act in the same direction, greater attention must be paid to reducing free inertial forces and second-order inertial forces.
The result is not only a perfectly tuned and balanced crankshaft, but also a weight reduction of more than 2 kg. This crankshaft weighs 15.317 kg.
The crankshaft has identical dimensions and can be easily exchanged for the standard one. Furthermore, it contains no additional material compared to the original, making it fully compliant with FIA regulations and requirements for historic racing.
